Tuesday is Chiefsday: Inspiring Quote

Hello friends,

It is Chiefsday again! The day which I will write a short post that has relations to my favourite music band, the band which their music rules my playlists since 2005, the Kaiser Chiefs. I'd love to fish out some inspirational words from their songs that are or might be worth to live by. 

Recently I have been spending a certain amount of time listening to one of the KC's songs from their latest album with a mouthful title "Education, Education, Education & War" - Meanwhile up in Heaven. A rather slowed down moody song that latches on our brian very nicely and the lovely music video. Clever and attentions grabbing lyrics, Ricky, the lead singer makes it as if he is an escapist and wants the listeners to drop the downtrodden daily life (if they have) to live in a fantasy world for a while. When I listen I feel like an escapist so he wins. But what really touches me is the bridge in the song that I think is the main message in the whole song "Your mind is the key, it is the key that sets you free" ... Such simple yet meaningful lines I wonder why I didn't discover it myself earlier. Lastly, the way Ricky sings it, emphasises the importance of the words. You can take a listen.

Fantastic music video. Amanda Abbington is in it as well as a victorian bride.. Told you, that this is almost like a dream comes true. Everything about it is just beautiful. The scenes are shot at Carters Steam Fair in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Tuesday is Chiefsday: "OMG" I Can't Believe It

O.K. so I have some blog posts to finish but instead I went swimming, sea shells searching, romantic strolling along the beach, playing with the children and now I am sitting on the hotel balcony looking at the wondrous blue atlantic ocean and drifting away. However I wouldn't change a thing there - great quality time with the lovely family is the best. 

Lost myself to the sound of the giant waves, it got me thinking sometimes I really can't believe that I am actually here. 10 years ago, the idea to be somewhere close to the sea was very scary. It always looks so mysterious so vast that my head automatically says once I go in, I would never get out alive again. And back then I couldn't swim. But being on this caribbean island for almost 6 years, I am now familiar. The country itself is familiar. It is not so much different from my home country.

All of this reminding me one of my forever favourite songs "Oh my God" from the greatest Indie-Rock band which I am a die-hard fan of, the Kaiser Chiefs. Their music has always been with me since the release of their album "Employment". They lyrics in "OMG" say it all really. It has the connection of my life when I was a teenager in Cambodia who always tried to get out of the badly corrupted country (sad because it's a beautiful small country) to find better student and private life opportunities somewhere miles away and to finally settle in my early twenties. I can always relate to every words in song. Well quite. Except the part "sucked more blood than a backstreet dentist". Haven't sucked anyone's blood. Yet. Only been sucked blood by the many many mosquitos here.

And now it is indeed, "Oh my God" I can't believe it, I've never been this far away from home. Dominican Republic and Cambodia. A complete opposite side of the globe.

Happy Easter 2015!

The good thing is I can schedule the post to be posted even if I am on holiday. I might be lost somewhere while you are reading this. :-)

My children had a good time colouring the eggs the other day using very simple methods, with some McCormick assorted colours egg dye, vinegar, hot water and some candles to draw and write on the eggs. Me and my husband had equally the lovely time..

From Turkey (yes, the country, not the bird!)

Solar eclipse, March equinox 2015? Sounds absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately, we didn't get to witness live any of that. While in the Faroe Islands, Svalbard were presented with the breath-taking total solar eclipse, and in Europe, Northern and Eastern Asia, Northern and Western Africa enjoyed the partial solar eclipse I found myself sitting in our comfortable and cozy nook gazing at some beautiful photos from Istanbul, Turkey.
 
What are your favourite things (to do, to see, to eat etc) in Turkey?

Although, Turkish architectural styles are undeniably fabulous, their black teas are prepared insanely delicious, their coffees are irresistable, their foods, especially Döner kebabs are finger-licking good, mine has got to be the bazaar markets, the Turkish ceramics, pottery and fruits, spices displays. I have always been so amazed by that.

My best season of the year

Red, yellow, gold here and there

Brown blanket on the wet ground

Snowy white snow'll be soon around

On twigs, branches, floors and towns

Then Bye autumn of the year.

You shall come back glow and gleam

I yearn to walk in the wood

The rustling sound as my feet dive

Through dead leaves pile on the ground

Vivid colours are overhead

My best season of every year.
